Requirements:

  • Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Asset Languages: Knowledge of Mandarin, Indonesian, Japanese, Thai, Cantonese, Spanish, Korean, or Filipino will be beneficial.
  • Work Setting: Urban area.

Responsibilities:

As a Food Counter Attendant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying and replacing linen.
  • Clearing and cleaning tables, trays, and chairs.
  • Placing dishes in the storage area.
  • Sanitizing and washing dishes and other items by hand.
  • Keeping records of the quantities of food used.
  • Packaging take-out food.
  • Portioning and wrapping foods.
  • Preparing, heating, and finishing simple food items.
  • Serving customers at counters or buffet tables.
  • Stocking refrigerators and salad bars.
  • Taking customers’ orders.
  • Using manual and electrical appliances to clean, peel, slice, and trim foodstuffs.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing the kitchen, including work surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, appliances, and equipment.
  • Handling and storing cleaning products.
  • Receiving, unpacking, and storing supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards, and other storage areas.
  • Removing kitchen garbage and trash.
  • Sharpening kitchen knives.
  • Sweeping, mopping, washing, and polishing floors.
  • Washing, peeling, and cutting vegetables and fruit.

Credentials:

  • Food Safety Certificate.
  • Safe Food Handling certificate.

Experience and Specialization:

  • Familiarity with electronic cash registers and food dispensers.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:

  • The job may involve a fast-paced environment, handling heavy loads, overtime, physically demanding tasks, and standing for extended periods.
  • The ability to work under pressure and handle repetitive tasks is important.
  • Weight handling may go up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
