Overview:
Bach Dang II Crab Fishing is currently seeking Fishing Vessel Crewmen/Women for their operations in Surrey, BC. This is a full-time position with a term or contract arrangement. The selected candidates will be responsible for various tasks related to crab fishing, including preparing fishing gear, catching fish and marine life, cooking meals for crew members, and maintaining fishing equipment and deck surfaces.
Responsibilities:
As a Fishing Vessel Crewman/Woman, your tasks may include:
- Preparing nets, lines, and other fishing tackle
- Operating fishing gear to catch fish and other marine life
- Preparing and cooking meals for crew members
- Cleaning, sorting, and packing fish in ice and stowing catch in the hold
- Repairing nets, splicing ropes, and maintaining fishing gear and deck equipment
- Cleaning deck surfaces and fish hold
- Steering vessels to and from fishing areas
Experience and Qualifications:
- No degree, certificate, or diploma required
- Willing to train candidates without prior experience
Certificates, Licences, Memberships, and Courses:
- Marine Emergency Duties Certificate
Area of Specialization:
- Crab fishing experience is preferred
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
- Work environment is on/in water
- Handling heavy loads
- Physically demanding job
- Weight handling of up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
