Job Overview:
Delcato Inc. is seeking Cooks for their establishment in East York, ON. The Cooks will be responsible for preparing and cooking complete meals or individual dishes, planning menus, and supervising kitchen staff.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
The Cook’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Preparing and cooking complete meals or individual dishes and foods.
- Planning menus and determining the size of food portions, estimating food requirements and costs, and monitoring and ordering supplies.
- Inspecting kitchens and food service areas to ensure cleanliness and compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Training staff in food preparation, cooking techniques, and safe food handling practices.
- Ordering supplies and equipment as needed for the kitchen.
- Supervising kitchen staff and helpers to ensure efficient operations.
- Maintaining inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment in the kitchen.
- Cleaning the kitchen and work areas to maintain hygiene and cleanliness standards.
- Organizing and managing buffets and banquets for special events.
- Managing kitchen operations to ensure smooth functioning.
Experience and Specialization:
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate required.
- 2 years to less than 3 years of experience as a Cook in a professional kitchen.
Cuisine Specialties:
- Experience in Canadian, Kosher, International, and Mediterranean cuisine.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
- Attention to detail in food preparation and presentation.
- Fast-paced environment with physically demanding tasks and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to handle heavy loads and work under pressure with repetitive tasks.
