Overview:
RJ Rod & Gun Hospitality Ltd. is seeking Cooks to work at their restaurant and bar in Parksville, BC. As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking complete meals or individual dishes and foods, planning menus, estimating food requirements and costs, monitoring supplies, and maintaining inventory. This is a green job that involves duties leading to positive environmental outcomes and requires specialized environmental skills or knowledge.
Requirements:
- Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
- Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years of cooking experience.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods
- Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
- Prepare and cook special meals for patients as instructed by a dietitian or chef
- Plan menus, determine food portions, estimate food requirements and costs, and monitor and order supplies
- Inspect kitchens and food service areas
- Train staff in food preparation, cooking, and handling
- Order supplies and equipment
- Supervise kitchen staff and helpers
- Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment
- Clean kitchen and work areas
- Organize and manage buffets and banquets
Credentials:
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
- Safe Food Handling certificate
- Food Safety Certificate
