  1. Inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions
  2. Inspect motor in operation, road test motor vehicles, and test automotive systems and components
  3. Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of automotive systems
  4. Diagnose faults and malfunctions and confirm findings with the supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace the unit
  5. Repair or replace mechanical units or components
  6. Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer’s specifications
  7. Estimate parts and labor costs
  8. Perform scheduled maintenance service
  9. Test and adjust units to specifications
  10. Advise customers on work performed and future repair requirements
  11. Complete reports to record problems and work performed
  12. Coach and instruct apprentices
  13. Review work orders and discuss work with the supervisor
  14. Provide customer service
