Job Overview:
Smart Movers is hiring Truck Drivers for their operations in North Seguin, ON. The truck drivers will be responsible for transporting goods and materials, ensuring the safety and security of cargo, and providing excellent customer service.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
The Truck Driver’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Addressing customers’ complaints or concerns professionally.
- Arranging travel, related itineraries, and making reservations.
- Loading and unloading goods.
- Operating and driving straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
- Overseeing the condition of the vehicle and inspecting tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment.
- Performing brake adjustments and emergency roadside repairs when necessary.
- Performing pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections, and overseeing all aspects of the vehicle.
- Performing preventive maintenance on the truck.
- Receiving and relaying information to central dispatch.
- Recording cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption accurately.
- Ensuring the safety and security of cargo by properly tarping and securing it.
Experience and Specialization:
- No degree, certificate, or diploma required; will provide training to the right candidates.
- Knowledge of documentation such as accident or incident reports, driver logbook, inspection reports, maintenance and repair reports, and trip reports.
Type of Trucking and Equipment:
- Experience operating straight trucks with 4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles.
Communication Systems Experience:
- Proficiency in operating GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment.
Transportation/Travel Experience:
- Experience in local, long-haul, provincial/territorial, regional, or short-haul transportation.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
- Attention to detail, handling heavy loads, and ability to work under pressure with a large workload.
- Overtime may be required, and the job may be physically demanding with repetitive tasks and sitting for extended periods.
- Weight handling of more than 45 kg (100 lbs).
