Overview:
Maple Drywall Ltd. is currently hiring a Tilesetter for their operations in Edmonton, AB. This is a full-time position with permanent employment. The Tilesetter will be responsible for preparing, measuring, and installing various types of tiles on surfaces. The role involves using hand tools and adhesives to set tiles in place, cutting and fitting tiles as needed, and ensuring accurate and precise workmanship.
Requirements:
- Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
- Experience: 1 to less than 7 months of tilesetting experience.
- Work Setting: Relocation costs will be covered by the employer.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare surfaces to be covered with tiles by measuring and marking them appropriately.
- Use hand trowel to mix, apply, and spread mortar, cement, mastic, glue, or other adhesives.
- Set tiles in place and apply pressure to ensure they are properly affixed to the base.
- Align and straighten tiles to achieve a uniform and visually appealing layout.
- Cut and fit tiles around obstacles and openings using hand and power cutting tools.
- Pack grout into joints between tiles and remove excess grout to create seamless finishes.
- Lay and set mosaic tiles to create decorative wall, mural, and floor designs as required.
- Build underbeds and install anchor bolts, wires, and brackets to support tile installations.
- Handle and install marble, granite, and other stone materials by cutting, surfacing, and polishing them.
- Mix, lay, and polish terra surfaces to achieve desired results.
- Install tile strips for added aesthetic appeal and functionality.
